Hello friends of Somos Fox, and welcome to another edition of our digital magazine. Today, we’re joined by none other than Miguel Treviño, Director of Liquidtek. Miguel, thank you for being with us.
— Thank you for having me.
Let’s start with your journey at Grupo Fox and Liquidtek. When did you join?
I was working at the National Water Commission (CONAGUA), and during a meeting I met Engineer Fernando Pérez Cano. At the time, back in 2018, he was acquiring the Hotel Hacienda 1800 in Cuatro Ciénegas and was dealing with some water well issues there. Someone at the meeting mentioned I was with CONAGUA, and he reached out to me for support. We were able to assist him with the situation, and later that year, in October 2018, after finishing my role at CONAGUA, I was invited by Eng. Fernando to join Grupo Fox through Liquidtek.
What are the main challenges and goals you face at Liquidtek?
The main challenge is attracting new projects for both the group and Liquidtek, particularly in the operation of wastewater treatment and potable water plants. We’re actively pursuing opportunities in Torreón as part of the Agua Saludable para La Laguna project. We’ve conducted several water sampling tests in support of CONAGUA.
However, the greatest challenge we’re currently facing is the implementation of the indirect potable reuse project at the Dulces Nombres wastewater treatment plant for Servicios de Agua y Drenaje de Monterrey. This flagship initiative has the capacity to treat 2,800 liters per second and represents a major advancement in water reuse technologies.
We’re also aiming to participate in the construction of the potable water plant in Durango, which is currently underway. Additionally, under the Agua Saludable para La Laguna framework, we’re preparing to enter bids for the construction of potable water pipelines to supply nearby municipalities, as well as irrigation channels—one of the federal government’s promises to strengthen agricultural infrastructure in the region.
For our colleagues at Grupo Fox outside of Monterrey and Coahuila, can you tell us a bit about the Liquidtek team and where you operate?
At Liquidtek’s Municipal Water Projects division, we are a team of six. As they say, we’re few but mighty. There’s a saying from Guardian Bosses: “Hire the best and let them do what they do best.” That’s exactly our case—although we’re a small team, every member brings valuable experience, and we each strive to give our best every day.
Outside of work, do you have any hobbies or personal interests?
My biggest hobby is fishing—whether it’s with my kids or friends. I really enjoy it.
What is Miguel Treviño like in the family setting?
We have four sons; two of them are already married. My oldest son, Miguel, has a son, and my second, Marcelo, has two daughters—so we have three grandchildren. I’ve always valued family deeply. It’s something passed down from our grandparents and parents. I try not to bring work home. My father used to say: “Leave your bag of troubles at the door.” So, for me, home is a different space, and it’s important to keep work problems outside.
To wrap up, do you have any message or advice for young professionals starting out at Grupo Fox or looking to grow in their careers?
Since I joined the company, I’ve felt completely at home. Engineer Fernando Pérez Cano is a truly humane, approachable, and friendly person. I’ve always felt like part of the group.
To anyone considering joining Grupo Fox, I’d say it’s what Americans call “a great place to work.” I feel very comfortable here—our whole team does. And not just the Liquidtek team, but the entire Grupo Fox family. We get along well and have built a great sense of camaraderie and friendship.
Thank you so much for your time, Miguel. We look forward to having you again in future editions.
— Thank you. I’m always happy to contribute.
